Dear Bridgewater Residents,

We are approaching the mid-point of Phase III - the Design Phase.  As we move through the design process, we have finalized the Site Plan (posted below) and have began to look at certain issues in more detail, such as:

-Individual Municipal and Police Departments - Synergies and Sizes
-Energy Efficiency and Sustainable 'Green' Building Design
-The Integration of Technology and IT Systems into the Facility
-Selections of Building Materials (Interior and Exterior)
-and much more...

Some items we find are decisions better left to the public who will actually use the space.  One example is the design and location of a new Memorial area.  We have met with the Veterans Memorial Committee and have gathered some conclusions about the proposed Memorial design.

-The existing memorial could remain along Garretson Road as it exists today, an can continue to be used for Ceremonies.
-A new memorial could be introduced as part of the new complex, but would look and function differently than the existing memorial.
-The new memorial area can serve as the location of the Flags, and can become a place to gather.
-It can have seasonal plantings and resistant materials so that it can be enjoyed year-round.
-The memorial can be placed within the plaza of the new complex and serve more as a historical / cultural monument, which can be experienced by all visitors.
-The memorial should focus more on general concepts of Democracy, Freedom, and Government, and recognize and appreciate the men who served our Country.
-Inspirational Phrases could become part of it, such as: "Land of the Free - Because of the Brave"

We are interested in gathering the public's opinion on the design of the new Memorial Area.  Please offer your opinions / suggestions via the e-mail link on this website.

Looking ahead, in roughly 2 months when we update this site again, we will have an updated Cost Estimate as well as 3-Dimensional Renderings of the Municipal Complex.  We are still on schedule for ground-breaking in the spring of 2007 and Completion in roughly 24 months in 2009.

As thoughtful, involved members of the community your input is particularly important to the process.

Thank you for your participation,

The Design Team
