Paul R. Swartz, AIA, PP, Chief Executive Officer
Paul, a founding principal of the firm, has 30+ years in the architectural profession. He serves public clients who comprise local, county, state and federal government, as well as universities and K-12 schools. His specialties are: justice/correctional facilities, music /performing arts venues, vocation-based schools, and autistic learning centers. In the private sector, Paul’s experience encompasses laboratories, R&D facilities and data centers.
Paul empowers the notion of “community building” through a collaborative design process so that all voices are engaged in developing the end product. His designs do not prescribe to a specific aesthetic; rather the design evolves out of the totality of the project which allows for a plurality across markets.

Arnaldo Untoria, AIA, PP, CID, Partner Emeritus
Arnie is a founding principal of USA Architects and is the firm's spine in terms of its financial management and administration. His 30-plus years of experience covers a multitude of project types, such as education, public safety, real estate development and government.
As a history and geography buff, Arnie prescribes to the smart growth concept, believing in the renovation and adaptive reuse of quality-built buildings within urban / re-development areas. He subscribes to the philosophy that architecture must be conscious and respectful of context, while enriching the human experience.
In the field of design he considers himself a practical visionary. Such vision, when properly applied, adds value in art, science, politics, law, construction logistics and fiscal responsibility. He further believes that good planing and design play a pivotal role in creating sustainable communities.

Armand T. Christopher, Jr., AIA, Director of Technical Services
With 30 years of architectural experience, Mr. Christopher has extensive involvement in the technical aspects of building analysis and design. He possesses a solid command of building systems, and materials and methods of construction and has developed an expertise in understanding the parameters involved in designing from a full range of system types and solutions.
As a principal of the firm, he heads the in-house Building Envelope Studio. Its focus is on the forensic analysis of problems, such as water intrusion and premature failure of roofs, in existing buildings, with roofing, curtainwalls, masonry (barrier and cavity walls), siding, windows, doors etc., and the application of practical and cost effective solutions to correct such deficiencies. He has served as an expert witness offering forensic analysis and professional testimony in legal proceedings stemming from premature roof and envelope failures. Armand’s active membership in local chapters of the Roof Consultants Institute and U.S. Green Building Council keeps him current with building envelope technology trends, including green roof design.

Mark A. Coan, AIA, Director of Design
As the firm’s first employee, Mark was the youngest employee named as a principal of the firm. In his role as Director of Design, Mark puts to use his twenty-six years of architectural programming and conceptual architecture experience into practice by creating sound and economically viable solutions for a variety of design challenges. His experience is diverse across multiple market segments, including, judicial, public safety, healthcare, education, corporate and retail.
Mark provides a leadership role to design teams and serves as key communicator and project facilitator, coordinating regularly with the Project Manager and Key Project Stakeholders, ensuring a positive degree of overall responsiveness and adherence to project scope, and budget / schedule parameters.
In recent years, his focus has been directed toward government clients, specifically law enforcement and emergency services departments.

Peter C. Campisano, AIA, Director of Project Management
Pete is a principal of the firm whose experience in the public educational arena has revolved around his hands on, goal oriented approach to each project and his philosophy of active participation from the very beginning until the project’s successful conclusion.
His passion in architecture over the past twenty years has focused on working with New Jersey public schools, including charter schools. His specific areas of expertise include: special needs schools, instructive settings and places for children with developmental disabilities such as autism, advocating on behalf of New Jersey public school children and working with other professionals and administrators to advance, through design, quality learning environments for all students in the state. Additionally, he has a strong focus on solar energy and other sustainable initiatives.

Andrew P. Adornato, AIA, CDT, LEED AP, Senior Project Manager
Mr. Adornato is an Associate of the Firm and Project Manager. With over ten years of experience, he has managed projects of many types; including designs for Government, Corporate, Educational, and Healthcare market segments. Mr. Adornato is a very effective and organized leader, displaying a capacity for efficiency that allows him to facilitate pleasing and functional designs while working within time and budget constraints. He is extraordinarily dedicated to every project and maintains a clear channel of communication with his clients. Additionally, he mentors new staff designers in all aspects of architecture while keeping his project teams motivated and on target with project goals.

Mitch A. Miller, AIA, FCSI, CCS, Director of Specifications
Mr. Miller is an Associate of the firm with over 35 years of experience as a planner, designer and project manager for a wide array of projects that include healthcare, post-secondary education, corporate, municipal, transportation, religious and senior housing.
He is responsible for maintaining the USA specification masters, updating them with current construction technologies, references and applications. His primary focus and expertise is with the ‘front-end’ documents, constituting the contractual side of the Project Manuals. His diverse experience brings value to the staff with mentoring in materials and methods, as well as constructability issues.
Mitch is an active member of the Construction Specifications Institute and serves as Vice President.

Daniel Fortunato, AIA, Director of Construction Administration
Mr. Fortunato is proficient in all aspects of architectural design, construction management, site supervision with particular strengths in value engineering and quality control. With over 25 years of career experience, Mr. Fortunato has worked in planning, production, procurement and construction administration. He has had involvement in a variety of project types including higher education, healthcare and government facilities.

Denise P. Laskody, Director of Operations
Ms. Laskody has over ten years of administrative and HR management experience. As an Associate of the firm, she capably assumes a multitude of responsibilities including oversight of employee communication and feedback, legal compliance with governmental and labor requirements, employee recruitment and interviews, and administration of company policies. Ms. Laskody is currently preparing for the Professional of Human Resources certification exam.
