The Village Brewing Company has become a strong contributor to the social integration and economic growth of downtown Somerville, a quaint city nestled among Somerset County, NJ. USA Architects designed a complete gut renovation of the core and shell of what was fondly referred to as the “Old Woolworth Building” on Main Street. Our scope of work included structural reinforcement for the brewing tanks, a newly designed storefront exterior, restrooms, and assistance with permitting and codes.
A quintessential example of how the city has been supporting economic growth through small businesses and entrepreneurs, the building is located across a main pedestrian market which draws high foot traffic during lunches, dinners and weekends. The “Village Brew Pub” inhabits 18,000 SF. It features a 50’ long bar, 900 sf of brewing area, a main restaurant area with seating for 220 people (including two private dining areas), and a primary kitchen for food prep. The brewery also includes a furnished basement level which houses private events for up to 250 people.
